Healthcare Professional Training and Patient Awareness

- Healthcare Professional Training
What is it?

Linear Accelerator (LINAC) radiation therapy systems are extremely expensive and in limited
supply. Less time spent on training healthcare professionals on an actual system means more time for treating patients. Training Radiation Therapists and Medical Physicists with a simulator allows a safe environment in which to rehearse, repeatedly if required, system failures and procedural mistakes. Session recording and playback capabilities allow for evaluation and easy communication and rehearsing of treatment strategies.

The 3D Radiation Oncology Simulation Environment (3D-ROSE) accurately recreates the physical characteristics of a LINAC. Total realism is achieved through 3D-ROSE since it incorporates real hand-controllers and accurately recreates every movement and control from manufacturer supplied drawings. life-size immersive visuals and accurate audio bring the system to life. 3D-ROSE makes radiation therapy easy to explore in a safe and controllable environment.

- Patient Awareness
What is it?

The prospect of creating a Patient Perspective Simulator of a Diagnostic MRI scanner holds several exciting possibilities. It is widely accepted that Claustrophobia is a significant factor for a number of patients, often resulting in the need for lengthy coaxing and pharmaceutical sedation. Children often pose a difficult, yet understandable, challenge.
