Patient Perspective Linac: Patient Perspective Immersive Simulator

Reducing Apprehension through Immersive Simulation.
Due to high clinical demand and throughput, it is not possible for a patient and their family to see a linac machine and room before they commence treatment. We hypothesise that by enabling a patient and their family to experience a realistic 3D immersive radiotherapy simulator, they will be better informed and less apprehensive commencing treatment.

It is well known that the posture of some patients changes as they become more relaxed, potentially changing the position of the tumour. The Simulator enables patients about to undergo external beam Radiotherapy treatment to experience the 'sights and sounds' beforehand.
