FEXI: Finite Element Analysis of X-ray Images

What is it?

Finite Element Analysis is a widely used technique for the computer modelling of structures experiencing a mechanical loading. It is inherently sensitive to geometry and material distribution, the structural model to be tested being defined by nodes (x, y, z coordinates), regions and materials (density, Young´s modulus & Poisson´s ratio). Restraints and loads are applied to the model as defined by the user. The results may be expressed as displacement or stress.
